I intend to put it into practice this coming year - and the practice of giving just for random reasons and not because "someone is on a list." I sure respect you.
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06935206946501196623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8858648209241030386.post-11669183458526428102014-01-06T18:37:53.907-08:002014-01-06T18:37:53.907-08:00I have felt the same way for a couple years myself...I have felt the same way for a couple years myself. I don't really care about the gift, but the fact that someone cared. Your gift of the book meant so much to me (even if I did tell you exactly what I wanted). My best gift this year was that my wife snapped that picture of Aurelia singing with me on Christmas eve. Nothing else even came close to seeing her want to "be like daddy."Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14541854510010670851noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8858648209241030386.post-16332001021563108152014-01-06T18:13:31.175-08:002014-01-06T18:13:31.175-08:00You brought tears to my eyes, Ryan, and I'm no...You brought tears to my eyes, Ryan, and I'm not sure if they're in gratitude that you did receive the message of love that was behind the gifts and the soufflé, or because I'm so sorry for the pain that you've expressed in your post, knowing that I'm responsible for part of that, too. Either way, I hope that you know that I love you; and that, as your own children grow, you'll begin to understand that love, in the amazing way that only being a parent yourself can make real. Would that we could all have children's eyes, at least at Christmas, once again!Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14150935990098340094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8858648209241030386.post-60959315768983266302014-01-06T18:11:15.865-08:002014-01-06T18:11:15.865-08:00Good description of the tug of war of nostalgia, R...Good description of the tug of war of nostalgia, Ryan. We can never relive what has already happened and in trying to do so, miss out on something that could be only possible now.
Clairehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01007256928803254957noreply@blogger.com
